ROMANS ARE COMING....

So at the Local club Warlord Games Hail Ceasar seems to be popular for the Ancients and Historical gaming. With this in mind I have purchased some of the Warlord Games Romans to start a Roman HC Army.

These come in a combination of Plastic and Metal models. The plastic figures seem to have less flash and less preperation work is required for these. The metal figures however have more flash and require a fair amount of prep work before base spraying, but they do have finer details.

Which do I prefer well the Plastic due to being plain lazy when it comes to prep work.

Well I shall base my Army on the Legio IX Hispania from the Simon Scarrow Books.

These are led by a Legate called Geta.

So my forces will consist of the following.

General - Mounted (there to make up the numbers for commanders)
Legate - Mounted
Prefect - Foot
I Cohort
32 x Veterans
II Cohort
16 x Legionaries
III
16 x Legionaries
IV
16 x Legionaries
V
16 x Legionaries
VI
16 x Legionaries

Auxillaries
12 x Batavian Foot
12 x Batavian Foot

Aux. Cavalry
8 x Batavian Horse
8 x Batavian Horse

Light Skirmish Cavalry
6 x Numidians

Skirmishers
8 x Slingers
8 x slingers

16 x Western Archers

War Machines
2 x Ballista
1 x Onanger

Hope you enjoy and next update will be a few weeks for these Romans.

Modern Afghan 28mm for Force on Force

Ok so this is about some Modern gaming figures I saw a fellow gamer using at a local show at Broughton Airbus ran by Deeside Defenders who hold annual gaming event. These figures were made by Empress Miniatures and looked really nice. If anyone is interested in Modern Gaming in 28mm then I highly recommend these figures.

I have purchased quite a few of these figures and have started to assemble my Insurgent/Taliban force.

These are a selection of a few of the Models I have completed to date.

as you can see I have a few more to do and I also have a nice idea for a scenario to run at my local club one evening. I will update you with more pictures as they become available.

Models Purchased 2012 - 110
Models Painted 2012 - 38
Models aim to paint for 2012 - 298 (lets see if I can achieve this that is an average of 24 models per month)

Bolt Action Rules of Engagement. British Red Devils

Boxed set of Red Devils from Bolt Action Miniatures which I picked up a while ago. A couple of WiP shots and a few pics from a game I had with Luke using his Germansat the RGMB, Chester.

Picturea above are of 2 squads, Piat Team and Command Team.

Lukes German Grenadier Force
Now how have the few games we have played gone, well mainly the way of the Red Devils. We are still learning the rules which are many but appear quite simple and straight forward to follow. Well I have a few more Red Devils to paint up.
